Echoes of the wild
A Wildlife Conservation Series by Aditi Gadgil.
About the Series
Hi, I’m Aditi — an artist and a big-time wildlife admirer.
Echoes of the Wild is a very personal series I poured my heart into. It’s made up of four paintings — each one featuring a baby animal that’s endangered, paired with a little stuffed toy version of itself.
It might seem cute at first, but there's a deeper question under the surface:
What if one day, these stuffed toys are all that’s left?
Each painting captures a different emotion — wonder, joy, farewell, and loneliness — all seen through the eyes of animals we may lose if we don’t protect them now. I didn’t just want to paint their beauty — I wanted to paint their future… and maybe make us pause and think.
🎨 The Paintings
🐯 Fragile Future
Acrylic on canvas • 48 x 30 in
A tiger cub stares at a stuffed toy tiger with curiosity — like he’s trying to figure it out.
To me, it feels like he’s seeing a version of himself that isn’t alive… just soft, quiet, and still.
I painted this thinking about the future — a future I hope we never reach, where real tigers are gone and all we have left are toy versions on shelves.
🦏 The Last Look
Acrylic on canvas • 40 x 30 in
This little rhino is walking away, but not before he turns back to look at a small stuffed toy.
That moment… it feels like goodbye.
This was the hardest to paint. I imagined what it would feel like to be the last of your kind — to leave behind not just your home, but the memory of what you once were.
🦧 Only Friend Left
Acrylic on canvas • 30 x 40 in
A baby orangutan swings freely on a branch — wild and playful. But he’s clinging to a soft toy. That toy? His only friend.
Orangutans are incredibly social and intelligent, and the idea of one being all alone broke my heart. This painting is about the silent kind of loneliness, and what we hold onto when everything else is gone.
🐘 Someone Like Me
Acrylic on canvas • 40 x 30 in
He found someone who looks like him. Not real—but still there. Still listening.
Someone Like Me is a quiet piece from my Echoes of the Wild series. It’s not sad, just... real. When no one’s left to walk beside you, you still hope. You still connect.
A soft reminder of what we’re losing—and what still can be saved.
🌿 Why I Painted This Series
I created Echoes of the Wild not just to show how beautiful these animals are, but to share a little of what they might be feeling — if they could speak.
Wildlife conservation is very close to my heart, and 10% of all proceeds from this series will go toward conservation efforts. If even one person pauses, feels something, or chooses to care a little more about the wild after seeing these — then this series has done what it was meant to do.
